He was the inaugural Professor and Chair in Orthodontics at the University of Melbourne and has been the consultant orthodontist to the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Unit at the Royal Melbourne Hospital since the mid 1990s. He received the Australian Society of Orhodontists' Distinguished Service Award (2008) and their prestigious PR Begg Reseach Award (2014).
